Butchers and Drovers Charitable Institution (BDCI) announced last year a scheme to award £200 to each apprentice butcher who passed Gateway. The scheme was backdated to 1st January 2023. However, BDCI are aware that the scheme is not reaching all apprentices who would qualify for the award. As a result the operation of the scheme is being simplified as follows with effect from 1 January 2025:

• Applicants can download a simple application form from the BDCI website (Butchers’ and Drovers’ Charitable Institution) – see below.
• Once completed, the form together with a copy of the Gateway pass certificate should be sent to BDCI at info@bdci.org.uk
• The application will be processed by BDCI and £200 paid to all applicants who have completed the form correctly and included the Gateway pass certificate

Only applications received within three months of passing Gateway will be accepted.

To date BDCI has provided awards to over 120 apprentice butchers.
